Those voters are all sure that they are going to be millionaires some day soon. There are just a few nasty people standing in their way (the usual R & T boogeymen).

Thus they vote Republican to ensure their millions won't be taxed away.

They have unrealistically high self-esteem (millions due any day now) and low introspection (problems are always outside of themselves).

The other operative principle is that they are mindless social conservatives and let that trump any rational thinking.

while those who oppose them are "low information" types. This is odd as I argue against them with facts and statistics while they sputter out slogans and talking points. We live in a dangerous world when those with the least amount of factual knowledge are convinced they are masters of politics and current events.

Also, you can't argue with them as their worldview is often a belief system rather than a fact-based, rational set of views that can be changed when new information is presented. You can dominate the discussion and they still won't know they've lost.

Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints.....

About three-fourths of republican voters; At least where I work

Regarding the right wing christians, the ones I'm around knuckle under authority because it's seemingly the moral thing to do. The boss is right because he's....well...the boss. Honor they boss because he payeth your salary and putteth food on thy table. That sort of thing.

The guns are of course, nuts. Nothing else matters. Even if they're intellectually honest enough to admit republicans are anti-labor, they'll point out that some democratic pols are too and that in any case they can stop full blown fascism taking hold in the US because the public is armed. Yeah right!

A third angle is the classic "me me me" one. As long as they themselves are still gainfully employed, they care fuck all about anybody else. That, and the "everybody is overpaid but me" attitude.

I can't stand being in the same room with all these lunkheads and keep to myself unless I absolutely have to interact with them professionally.
