Mercedes found after hit-and-run crash kills teen girl, injures brother
The owner of a Mercedes that slammed into and killed a teen girl and critically injured her brother as they rode a bicycle across State Road 50 came forward Friday hours after the hit-and-run crash in east Orange County.
But the identity of the driver who struck 17-year-old Melanie Luque and 18-year-old Travis Luque Exposito has not been determined.
The owner of the 2008 black Mercedes showed up with an attorney at the Florida Highway Patrol's local headquarters in Orlando
She told officials where to find the vehicle, according to FHP Sgt. Kim Montes.

(320,555 posts)It is curious.. evidently the owner is not the driver. And, why were those poor kids out bike riding at 3:30am.. and were there lights on their bike?

I think there are few details at present because the cops are trying to decide whether or not the driver was blotto.
I can think of no other reason for leaving the scene of an accident that caved in half the windshield. You might miss a parking lot tap but you've got to be shitfaced to miss that.

(320,555 posts)I was thinking maybe a kid of her's. But, who knows.. wouldn't mind hearing more when it comes out.
They left the scene but finally notifying the authorities. So there's that.
Again, so sad for Melanie Luque and Travis Luque Exposito and their loved ones.
