(WASHINGTON) Outrage is spreading across the USA after a photo emerged showing US President Barack Obama and two other foreign leader snapping a "selfie" picture during a memorial service honoring the late Nelson Mandela in South Africa. The two other leaders appearing in the picture are David Cameron of the UK and Helle Thorning-Schmidt of Denmark.
While this was supposed to be a somber occasion, the "selfie" photo from South Africa is sure to cause a storm in Washington D.C. which could eventually lead to Obama's impeachment and removal from office. Many analysts feel the Benghazi scandal will pale in comparison to this.
You can be sure this incident will be investigated to the fullest extent by the House of Representatives. I have seen some big Washington scandals in my lifetime, but this could be the biggest one of all," wrote Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin. "How could Obama think it was OK to snap a selfie picture during a memorial service? This is simply more proof that Obama has no concern for the Constitution or the rule of law."
This is one of the most corrupt Administrations this country has ever seen, said a columnist for the Breitbart website. "The left constantly talks about Bush's multi-trillion dollar war in Iraq, but they just brush this off like it means absolutely nothing. This is ten times worse than leading the country to war based on false information. We don't know how many Americans will ultimately die because of this."
The White House press secretary, Jay Carney, would not comment on the photo but there's no question that this administration will soon have to answer questions about the "selfie" photo as this scandal begins to spin completely out of control.

(4,876 posts)That the moron at Breitbart actually admitted that the Bush Administration lied us into a war?
How many Americans will die because Obama rudely snapped a selfie during a memorial service? Only at Breitbart..

(30,439 posts)That sad part is that the writers at Brietbart are so unhinged, it would surprise anyone for them to say something like that.

(4,876 posts)Pitt told me half a dozen times that the Ted Cruz coloring book wasn't satire. I'm still having a hard time believing that one

(4,558 posts)Suddenly Mandela goes from terrorist to revered leader, worthy of respect. Just like they both object to Americans getting health care, and are angry that we're not getting it fast enough.

(100,133 posts)... with each other for a moment during President Obama's eulogy. Hand me the smelling salts! It's an international incident! It's a scandal!
The cameras panned around catching all sorts of little moments like that: smiles and tears during the time the memorial service went on. Greetings during which people smiled at each other.
BTW -- link? And when did the AP become such a trash-monger? This crap reads like The Onion.

(9,463 posts)passing of a person, much less Nelson Mandela.
And what part of all the music and dancing in that stadium did they not understand. This was a celebration, not a wake!
Dumbass rightwingers and anyone else who feels this was inappropriate behavior need to chill the fuck out.
In my own family we celebrate the lives of those that have passed on. We have our moments: the initial shock if it was unexpected, and at the actual funeral services. Other than those times (and in private) we don't sit around and brood and cry as a group, we feast and laugh and tell stories.

(2,681 posts)Another violation of the constitution by Obama. Calif. Congressman Daryll Issa is calling for hearings. He is even consulting with Michelle Bachman and Jenny Thomas. Can impeachment be far away?

(57 posts)Really? Someone thought this was real? The selfie is real. The rest of the story, alas, is not.
