I'd hire my kids to screen the charities for worthiness and impact.

Have to be pretty progressive charities, too.

I'm not being all <shudder> Christian about this,
I just have very finite needs. A couple million would give me anything I really want/need/desire.

I posted recently about one particular hedge fund asshole who "earned" $4 Billion in 2009 and has "earned" another couple of $Billion this year. Those people are sociopaths... and maybe OCD to boot.

Maybe some of my money would go to a massive dirty tricks (read: Truth) campaign against Repubs. One of my secret desires has always been to send people to find out just exactly what kinks Issa, Inhofe, and some of those others are into. And blow it all over the media.

You won the big one -- now what?

(CNN) -- Somebody might wake up Wednesday a whole lot richer. Heck, some of us are going to stay up to see if we're the lucky one or two who hit Tuesday night's $636 million Mega Millions jackpot -- the second-largest in U.S. history.

People who play the lottery love to dream about the things they'd do if they won the big one. Telling the boss off might top your list (not mine, oh no, not mine). Maybe a new mansion and a fancy car and a gasoline-powered turtleneck sweater (right, Steve Martin?).

But let's think about it. There are a few important things you should do before you go out and blow your winnings.

1. Sign the ticket.

You didn't already? Are you crazy? What if the roommate "claims" it? What if your significant other isn't as significant as you thought? What if you are showing it to someone, say over a beer or 10, and it goes missing? What if you forget it on your desk and you suddenly have the richest cleaning person in the U.S.? Sign it -- if you didn't when you bought it -- because whoever has an unsigned ticket when it gets turned in can call dibs on it.

Unfortunately, it fell apart back in the 1960s. It has made some attempted comebacks, but they kept running out of steam. So now it is one of the poorest cities in America, smack dab in the middle of one of the richest counties in America.

I'd like to think what I would have done would have made a difference in this poor dying city, but we shall never know.

But of the 30% or there abouts - I donated - Approximately one third of the donations would be political and primarily to media watchdog or media challenging organizations such as FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting) - Approximately one third would be to projects that helped the community I currently live in. Approximately one third to projects that help my old hometown recover from a long period of economic destitution.

I would purchase a couple of residences and would enjoy life a lot. Like a certain hero of mine I would adopt eleven rescue dogs - they would enjoy life a lot too.

I guess after I took care of my and my family's financial issues, I would travel, but then I'd have to re-find myself.

Nope. I could never be anything but a liberal. I would do what I've always done, be a responsible citizen, and pay my taxes.

After being advised from accountants/lawyers, I would take care of myself and my family; then I would quietly help others. Probably set up a foundation.

Guess I shoulda bought a ticket or two!

I'd be quiet about it. I'd start a bunch of foundations for investment in left wing political activism, feeding the poor, housing the homeless, OWS and science education... and I'd give a lot away outright as well. I don't need a whole lot to be personally happy with my life. I probably wouldn't even buy a new car.

My parents would get early retirement, and I'd go into a field that I actually enjoy.

Begin the process of hauling this pos old trailer off the place and replacing it with a real house.

Flood money into a couple of local organizations that take care of people in need.
