Robertson Family Issues Statement on Duck Dynasty’s Future

Sounds like they're doubling down and feel that they have a constitutional right to be employed by A&E no matter what they say or do...

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

Everyone. He should sing the song "Jesus loves the little children" until the hatred thoughts go away.
I am amazed of the hatred displayed by the righteous wrong. When the money slows he just might see the light. If A & E lets him back in then the sponsors should be next. We don't need bis nasty comments.

She's already given us 140 characters of gibberish on the matter, but there's no need to stop when you roll Wasilla-style. The stamp of approval from the Tea Party's den mother will help these yokels in their quest to get more media attention while bemoaning the suspension of their low-rent patriarch.

Seriously, cut the bullshit. The dude wasn't just stating what we all already know about Christianity and being gay. If he had just said, "I believe being gay is a sin. That's what my religion teaches.", I probably would've yawned. You can assume that most Christians, especially in the south, believe that way.

The part they want to ignore is his whole homosexuality morphs into bestiality and unhinged promiscuity thing. That's where he crossed the line from misguided religious beliefs into what amounts to hate speech.

A&E has the freedom of contract. That's actually a real right, unlike the imaginary one the family and its supporters believe they have here.

...contradictory nonsense. I mean, "expressing his faith" is a hate-filled rant not designed to "encourage hate"?

Seems the point of the statement is to push the silly RW talking point about his "constitutionally protected right."

Republicans don't appear to understand what that means.

So many thoughts in my head.

1. He can't be fired for saying, "I am a Christian." However hateful rants are not protected, even if you try to connect the hate with your religion.

2. I thought Jesus said something about judgement at some point.

3. Yeah, his statements not only incited or encouraged hate, they themselves were hate.

4. That "Love your neighbor as yourself" thing includes gay people.

Matthew 19:

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
