(26,241 posts)But they do keep saying the type of precipitation we will get all depends on the air temps. I can deal with the rain. I can deal with the snow. It's the ice that scares the beejeebus out of me.

(9,664 posts)One quarter to a half inch of ice with colder temps on the way. Freeze will keep the problem around a lot longer. I can only hope that they are wrong.
Meant to add.... Here in southeastern Michigan.

(30,712 posts)The roads are still risky.
We are supposed to have freezing rain today, and 4-6 inches of snow on top of it.
I agree with you about the ice. I can stay in, so I am staying in!
Be careful, DUers. Four to six inches of snow can be shoveled, and is not a big deal, but ice!!! No!

(8,646 posts)I live in a spot in Canada where freezing rain used to be unheard of, or at least super rare. Over the last few years it seems we have it a lot, but usually there's not much accumulation. Well, last weekend we had some accumulation of ice. I was acting as a taxi for my partying parents. I had to drive on pure ice. I've never, ever seen the roads this bad here in my nearly-40 years. People were sliding backwards down overpasses. And even I, with my AWD van, with ABS and 'traction control' and high quality winter tires had to drive 35kmh on the highway to avoid sliding off. It was horrible! I feel for those of you who get this more often. It sucks!! Give me a blizzard any day!

If they were going to lift and carry a baby around, they wouldn't hurt it.

(39,961 posts)all day long, here on the Gulf Coast. The cat won't even go outside. She's been piled up asleep on my robe on the couch ever since I let her out at 7:00 am. She barreled back in the house after eating 30 minutes later LOL!

(30,947 posts)and supposed to go to 70, but I don't think it will make it. It is dark and gloomy and rain storms are expected to move in by tomorrow morning.

(180 posts)Snow is coming and is supposed to be the heaviest around the time my husband leaves work. I'm more worried about ice snapping power lines.

(39,909 posts)This system just passed us in Western Arkansas,
and we are emerging from the clouds to a beautiful sunset.
Lots of rain and wind for the last 24 hours,
but stayed above freezing, and no damage to our place.
This is how it looks as of 5:15PM
