And if so shouldn't we all be outraged at all these feline interlopers into the
sanctity of DU?

(8,554 posts)my man always specifically chooses "cat appropriate" boxes to carry home all of our stuff and they have a ball with them.
That kitty is Skagit, a former feral, who took me three months just to even get within forty feet of her. She's at least fifteen yrs old, was an adult when we moved to this property and a real wild animal (I've got the scars to prove that!). Now she's our old sweetie cat, partial to pillows, ha!
Aerows
(39,961 posts)They are sweet as pie once they realize that you love them as much as you love them Mine is piled up in the bed. I'd say mine, but we both know that it's not exclusively mine anymore when the cat takes over the foot of it. At least my feet never get cold. She's gorgeous.
countryjake
(8,554 posts)also, age unknown, and she was mortal enemies with Skagit, before I brought them in. They used to have all-out cat wars in that woods!
Going to sleep at night around here is still a risky business; one never knows if we're gonna wake up with our eyeballs scratched out of our heads. But that is why Skagit prefers pillows...Phoebe has our feet.
Both are old dears, tho, and nearing the sunset of their lives, winding way down.

(16,296 posts)aura that wards off the seriousness of the world. Their abilities include an indifference to you, yet a deference to you. A detachment from the world, yet an awareness of it. A clownishness of complete abandonment, yet a dignity of character that no human will ever achieve. A fierce independence, yet the need to be -at times- annoyingly on your laptop, on your freshly washed clothes, and in your heart. Dogs welcome and rejoice that you are part of their lives, cats just know you are part of theirs and close a circle - to them it's a given that you and yours belong to them.

(46,179 posts)My cats have always ruled over the dogs to one degree or another; I don't know why.
About 15 years ago, I had a formerly feral tom cat that I brought into the house and civilized. Sort of. One day a friend with a huge black lab stopped by. The cat attacked the dog with such aggression that I had to move him off with the broom. I locked him in the bedroom, where he continued to howl, hiss, growl, and throw himself against the door until the dog left. The poor thing was in terror. That friend didn't bring her dog back.
He didn't treat MY dog like that, but then, she was schooled about who was boss from early puppy hood.
That cat has passed; the current cat is bossy, but would probably take chasing as an invitation to play, and begin harassing the poor dog.

(10,893 posts)always get so many recs and are so popular;I know they're cute and whatever, but all they basically are are just pictures of cats. I've seen informative threads here (on a political forum) that hardly get any recs. I guess it's like how cat (and dog) videos on YouTube get so many views in comparison to lectures...
That's just my $0.02.
