I just trashed the History of Feminism and Men's Group forums, ask me anything.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by pacalo (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Really, I'd rather you didn't but I will say that it's nice not to see those groups' attack posts in the Latest Threads list any longer.

A lot of the active members of both groups are banned in the other. GD is were the action is.

Full of pretty blatant strawman smears and attacks that no one outside of the group can address without getting a hidden message. Easy enough to ignore them, but it pollutes the board and the minds of people that fall for that stuff IMO. Its unforts that DU puts them in main feed.

I guess that's democracy

Funny how that works with religion and all

On edit: I think that this illustrates how big of a problem those two groups are; they don't tolerate or allow dissent. To participate in them is to agree. They simply allow polarization to flourish until the opposing members (and people in the middle) meet. There isn't a Christian group (is there) where they are allowed to bash Muslims slyly (and vice versa), until the soldier pour into the Religion group and goto war.

It used to be that calling out a poster was prohibited but things have changed with the new jury system. That's fine, if those are the new rules but at least give a person a chance to defend themselves. It's cowardly to beat up on someone who can't swing back.

I understand the concept of groups being a "safe place" but too often those with the power to decide who is safe and who isn't resided in the people least able to make a responsible decision. I'm not saying that either HoF or MG are being run like that but some definitely are.

I'm a female but I almost feel more comfortable around the guys. I like to read the men's forum. I try not to do a lot of commenting though because it is for the men. I pipe up now and then.

I may have to hide HOF for a while until it cools off. Curiosity gets the best of me and I un-trash it. I prefer the contentious stuff stay there and not in GD. Just my preference.
