A&E has lifted its suspension on "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson after less than two weeks.
The reality star was initially suspended for anti-gay remarks he made in a GQ profile that surfaced on Dec. 18.
"Don't be deceived," he said in the magazine's January issue. "Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."
Last week, A&E stated that it was disappointed in Robertson and put him on hiatus. But in a statement to THR on Friday (Dec. 27), A&E said it was inviting him back. Because no filming took place during his suspension, Robertson will appear in all new episodes of the show.

(5,957 posts)...and the fact that he holds them was not a reason to cancel the show. It's reality TV and in the real world, some people have opinions that others find offensive.
The real villain here is GQ for publishing a piece they had to know would raise a firestorm.

Nah, that might interfere with your whole "journalists must only publish positive stories" idea.

(11,441 posts)Is The Daily Show a villain as well for outsmarting a "lazy blacks" North Carolina good ol' boy who ended up losing his election board seat? Maybe these right-wing dumbasses should stay away from "librul media" -- they're not up to the challenge.

(64,406 posts)Guess that inheritance of yours is no more, dipshit. I mean "Phil"
Anyone that believes the outrage about what this collective troop of morons said/did wasn't otherwise planned or embraced (after bigot-merch started flying off the shelves) needs to reflect on their ability to understand reality and how it works.
But then again, what does it matter what I think. I believe Jesus Christ was an Essene who today, would have found this whole "Duck Dynasty" thing to be little more than a slap across His face. Crucified then, leveraged for dollars from idiots now.
But that's inconvenient to far too many of today's "Christians."

Sorry, nothing to see or hear here. Move along.

Gave them a ratings boost, I might wager (I'm from Vegas. I rarely gamble).
Now they have name recognition they did not have before.
Speaking only for myself; I'd never heard of this program until it popped up here on DU. I wonder how many others will now check it out to see "what all the fuss is about."
Well played to A & E.
