By Buster Spiller-snip-
First, I want to know what network I can pitch a TV show to about my regular American black family (blended from Michigan, Chicago, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas) that will allow me to call white people racist blue-eyed devils, demonic descendants of evil slave owners and privileged cracka muthafuckas, to name a few. Maybe A&E will allow it on their network (Oprah is too squeamish for that sort of thing). It cant be on an all-black network, though. It has to be seen and HEARD.
Second, who are the advertisers for this show and the other shows on A&E? I know Walmart, Sears and Cracker Barrel carry their merchandise and people need to stop shopping at ALL of those, but who buys air time? They need to be added to this list.
Heres the deal: I fully expected A&E to reinstate the billy goat but not until next season. This quick turnaround means they succumbed to the 250,000 people who signed that petition. Well, since potential market share losses from those people scared them, how would they feel getting hit by a loss in profit margin from all their advertisers? Ads ARE the business in television and if anything will get A&Es attention, their advertisers will.
The only thing crackas understand is MONEY and POWER. Always BEEN that way. That three-fifths human clause in the Constitution? MONEY and POWER. It had nothing to do with your equalness as a human being. MONEY and POWER. And since white people know that all they have to do is keep people entertained (especially niggas), they will continue to hold the keys to MONEY and POWER.

"So heres the strategy. Since MONEY and POWER is their driving motivation, collect twice the amount of signatures and boycott their advertisers, which hits them in their wallet (like these people insinuated they would do), and theyll do what networks do naturally: pull the plug because its no longer profitable."
Good point..

(112,151 posts)I grew up around people like Phil Robertson and if I could say something to him it would be, "STOP IT. You're embarrassing white men like me!"
The author of this piece presented a legitimate strategy to respond to this controversy. I never watched Duck Dynasty and wasn't lured in by the marathon programming that A&E had over the holidays.
BTW, what's up with the "gracias"--I'm used to getting a "mahalo" from you!

(112,151 posts)Phil made remarks comparing/connecting homosexuality with bestiality. Then Phil tricks ducks into wanting to having sex. How much farther down the road is it before Phil only wants to have sex with gay ducks?

(15,882 posts)I'm all for consenting adults doing what they wish. But I'm pretty sure the ducks aren't consenting. Especially when they figure out what the finale is...

(112,151 posts)I suspected that the post may be alerted upon because of the coarse language. However, I also felt that I would have done a disservice to the article and the conveyance of the writer's frustration if I had altered the text.

(10,252 posts)Boring!!! It ain't got no art, and it ain't entertaining.
Moreover, I ain't never watched no Duck Doodoo. Excuse me please. I had a little too much red wine 2nite. But honestly, I saw DD in the TV listings, and I thought is was a children's animated junk show from Disney. So I never watched it. Hey, I'm a white, blue eyed old lady. And as far as I'm concerned all you black and tan folks out there be my brothers & sisters from another mother.
There is one good thing about that DD guy. (Hey, let's look for the positive!) He serves as an example to your children of ignorant ass-holery. Hey kids! See that ignorant racist pig-snort over there? Well take a good look and decide for yourself if you want to grow up and be like him?

I don't watch much on their channel, but I will miss Roy & Muffy from Shipping Wars.
On edit: I have 4 Shipping Wars on tape from last week. I'll watch them, note the sponsors & then write to them & say, "Sorry, I won't be seeing your ads anymore because I'm not watching A&E anymore."
