As God Is His Witness, Ted Cruz Will Never Be Canadian Again

“Because I was a U.S. citizen at birth, because I left Calgary when I was 4 and have lived my entire life since then in the U.S., and because I have never taken affirmative steps to claim Canadian citizenship, I assumed that was the end of the matter,” Cruz said in a statement in August.

Cruz told CNN chief political correspondent Candy Crowley at the time he would attempt to renounce his Canadian citizenship.

“Serving as a U.S. senator, I think it’s appropriate that I be only an American,” he said.

I have to agree with Cruz - U.S. Senators should be American; of course I think they should have a few more qualities like a soul, maybe, and I prefer them to have at least 3/4ths of a wit.

From Wikipedia (I.e. not some obscure source):

Children born overseas to married parents[edit]
The following conditions affect children born outside the U.S. and its outlying possessions to married parents (special conditions affect children born out of wedlock: see below):[7]
If both parents are U.S. citizens, the child is a citizen if either of the parents has ever had a residence in the U.S. prior to the child's birth
If one parent is a U.S. citizen and the other parent is a U.S. national, the child is a citizen if the U.S. citizen parent has lived in the U.S. for a continuous period of at least one year prior to the child's birth
If one parent is a U.S. citizen and the other parent is not, the child is a citizen if
the U.S. citizen parent has been "physically present"[8] in the U.S. before the child's birth for a total period of at least five years, and
at least two of those five years were after the U.S. citizen parent's fourteenth birthday.[9]

Does Cruz meet these criteria? If he cannot prove that he does, Canada is stuck with him.

He qualified to be in the Senate. There is no requirement of not having another citizenship. More Republican idiocy.

Ted Cruz, the man who jumped on the birther idiocy like a goat on clover, is finally getting around to renouncing his Canadian citizenship. Cruz says it’s just a technical issue. You know, like you can be technically pregnant without being actually pregnant. Or just technically dumb.

Ted assures us that he has nothing against Canada, but he’s unclear if Canada doesn’t have anything against him.

It all boils down to where Cruz’s mother was born and, of course, whether she was just technically pregnant with him. Where is Donald Trump when you really need him?

Personally, I think I could build a pretty damn good case that he’s a terror baby.
