A 3-year-old scrambled out of his child seat after his parents stopped for gas early Wednesday, found a gun police say was left in the car by his father and fatally shot himself in the head.
9 hours later, I am still stunned. That poor child, dead. I don't know what I would do if one of my grandkids had this happen to them.

(3,491 posts)F*** would you have a loaded gun in your car that a child could get hold of? I'm sure these parents are asking themselves this very question right now. I'm not a gun owner, and probably will never understand why there is a need to own a gun, but this situation just sucks big time. As I'm posting this, I am sitting here looking at my other computer with the desk top pic of my little guys and it brings tears to the eyes.

(11,862 posts)an accidental discharge of weapon by an adult..yes..a 2 year old scrambling out of his car seat and finding a gun left (lying where exactly?) and shooting himself...VERY UNLIKELY!

(9,186 posts)Second. This is a three-year old (not a two year old, get facts straight) and I know they are capable of this. Do you kow how low the trigger pull on some handguns are?
Unlikely? tell that to the sobbing mother and the DEAD baby.
