He is out of surgery but not out of the woods.

Your good vibes and wishes will mean a lot to him now and for the foreseeable future.

For those of you on Facebook, his wife Laurie is posting updates.

My neighbor received his double lung transplant after an almost 3 year wait. Three times before the actual transplant he was called and prepped at one of Chicago's major medical centers only to find that the donor's lungs were damaged beyond further use. He is now healthy and of course off the oxygen with a blood oxygen level even better than mine!

Chris is critical but stable. He is still sedated and on a ventilator but they recently turned down the ventilator. His new lungs are working. We remain cautiously optimistic. Thanks for all the well wishes.
