I never hang out in the Lounge, so I never really got to know MFM all that well. I knew who he was, and I came across a few of his more notorious posts over the years - it was apparent that he had a unique sense of humor.

I'm so sorry to hear that he's died. His passing leaves a big hole in DU, for sure. I wish him a good journey.

I was actually expecting to hear this at some point.

I remember when I first started posting here again about a year ago I didn't know who MFM was. For some reason he PMed me or I PMed him for something. At that time he had already posted a few things about his heart problems. I asked him what his diagnosis was, if he was on a transplant list. We replied by saying he didn't want to talk about that, that it hit too close to home. I apologized for upsetting him. I know from later posts that he forgave my asking him and was usually very friendly, kind, supportive towards me. But I knew from the moment he replied in that manner that likely his prospects were not good. So I was expecting this for quite some time actually. And yet like you said it's still shocking.
