Kerry Lauds Deal To Freeze Iran's Nuclear Program

PARIS (AP) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says negotiations with Iran represent the "best chance" for the world to calm fears about Tehran's nuclear program and achieve long-term peace.

America's top diplomat praised the breakthrough Sunday whereby Iran and six world powers agreed about how to put in place the terms of last November's interim nuclear deal.

Kerry says talks toward a final agreement will continue, and he predicts the process will be difficult.

He told reporters in Paris that the U.S. will keep a close eye on Iran during this interim period - which he says will be the first time in nearly a decade that Iran isn't advancing its nuclear program.
