Wisconsin State Senator Pam Galloway, one of the three Republicans facing recall elections later this year, said Friday that she would be resigning soon due to a series of sudden health problems in her family, according to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/state-sen-galloway-to-resign-4c4jk6e-142927885.html
After a great deal of thought and consideration, Ive decided to put the needs of my family first, she said in prepared remarks. My family has experienced multiple, sudden and serious health issues, which require my full attention. Unfortunately, this situation is not compatible with fulfilling my obligations as state Senator or running for re-election at this time.
Her resignation, which has not yet taken effect, will leave the state Senate evenly split between Democrats and Republicans.
Just one year ago, Senate Republicans had a 19-14 majority, allowing them to pass virtually anything in the face of unified Democratic opposition. After a series of recall elections, Democrats narrowed that minority to 17-16.
Following Galloways announcement, the partisan divide of Wisconsins senate will shift to an even 16-16 tie, effectively putting the chamber into gridlock until the recall elections later this year, during which voters will effectively decide which party controls the states government.

You gotta love those cheeseheads in Wisconsin.
They really know how to fry their Republicans to a crispy crunchy level.
And they don't even remove the bones!

Sen. Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) announced she would be resigning effective Saturday from the seat she has held since her November 2010 election. In a statement on her website and Facebook page, Galloway said that she was resigning in order to deal with family issues.
"Today I am announcing my retirement from the Wisconsin State Senate. After a great deal of thought and consideration, I've decided to put the needs of my family first," Galloway said. "My family has experienced multiple, sudden and serious health issues, which require my full attention. Unfortunately, this situation is not compatible with fulfilling my obligations as state senator or running for re-election at this time."

(7,658 posts)I wish it was for a political reason instead, and I hope her family's health situation turns out OK. If she's using this as a cover and there is no family health crisis, then it's just more typical repub BS...But again, if it's real, then I wish her family no ill will and can not get myself to be happy that she's resigning if it really is for that reason.
Politically, yes, this is great news, and the people of Wisconsin need to get rid of as many repubs as possible, but I'd certainly prefer to see the voters kicking their asses to the curb.

Does Wisconsin Republican State Senator Pam Galloway lose all those Big Government, Public Worker Health Care benefits?
...or is she now Good for Life ?
You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.
