(10,893 posts)me of the 2012 GOP primaries when Ron Paul was pressed on the racist newsletters, and he denied knowing that they were published. It was a similar situation then because he was obviously either lying or utterly incompetent to not know about stuff printed under his own name.
Both incompetence and dishonesty seem to be rampant on the Right. They lie to get ahead, and once they're in positions of power, they screw up.

(37,161 posts)...is how I characterized that episode. After all, people subscribed to the "Ron Paul Political Newsletter" thinking it was his views, or at least had his stamp of approval. If he never even looked at it, he was profiting by perpetrating a fraud on his subscribers (morally, and maybe legally).
Christie's reputation is for running a tight ship. He can claim he knew nothing and that it was at odds with the tone of his administration, but if you believe it, I have another bridge a few miles from the GWB for sale, for a song.

If he lied about such (fairly) easily proven situations, I can't say the rest of his lies will be harder to prove.
There's something wrong with him in his head.
