Wife asked me to post this:
Our baby Brody will going in for surgery--the vet found a lump on his neck Friday-- he will be going in for surgery Feb 3rd.
His blood work was good. Kidney working, liver working and blood sugar normal. But they won't know if the lump is cancerous until they cut it out.
So please send some good thoughts.
His eye is healing nice we have been putting the ointment on. and trying to get the Amoxicillin in him twice a day. I'm still trying to figure out how he got pneumonia. He's an in door cat.
Yes I will admit with me working 40 hours and my wife working 40+ we haven't been around our babies as much as we should and my wife feels like the worse owner in the world.
We are saving up for the surgery and our landlord is being nice enough to let half the rent on the 1st and the second half on the 7th of Feb.
Let's hope all goes well and the surgery is no more than the vet said it would be.

(4,065 posts)FYI Both my kitties recently had masses removed (one neck, one leg) and neither were serious.
Check out care credit ...if you qualify and your vet accepts it, you can have interest-free payments for up to 12 months. I used it for both surgeries and it was great!
Best vibes to your furbaby for a quick and uneventful recovery!!

(5,376 posts)and me, who is blessed to have them in my life. Just went through some serious medical issues with Gracie, a Russian Blue who's about 15, so can definitely relate. Brody is fortunate indeed that you are his people, and please, tell your wife she's far from the worse owner in the world. That she feels that speaks volumes. You are both awesome!
Hugs to Brody!

(10,749 posts)Of course every situation is different, and I feel pretty silly mentioning this, but my late cat Tobias had a giant lump on the neck a few years ago. Turned out it was an abscess, which the vet opened up and cleaned out. I then needed to keep it clean until it heeled. Now that was gross. He was a trooper, though, and heeled fine. Good luck.

(1,245 posts)I sometimes lay awake at night worrying about what would happen if my Snowshoe baby Willie (now 10.5 yo) develops an expensive illness, given that my wife and I live basically hand to mouth, check to check. I fret almost daily that I might end up put in a position where I have no choice but to put him down for lack of finances ... he's been with me/us through SO much over the course of his life (not that he'd really know, he's always been comfy and fed), I just can't stand the thought of losing that little guy. It's probably the biggest cause of worry with regards to our bleak financial situation ...
Anyways, good luck Brody buddy, be well
