Who says there aren't any jobs?

Wanted: Croc handlers, no experience necessary

Here's an excellent part-time job that pays $25 an hour and offers the chance to work outdoors. The only catch is you have to be willing to handle live crocodiles.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is seeking agents to handle nuisance crocodile complaints. Experience is preferred but not necessary.

The number of American crocodiles in South Florida – their only habitat in the United States – has increased steadily over the past several years, in one of the nation's endangered species success stories. But this has meant crocodiles are showing up in canals, yards and golf courses from the Florida Keys to Palm Beach County.

The winning candidate will work in Miami-Dade County and the Upper Keys, where the workload has increased. Broward and Palm Beach are already covered.

The job involves capturing and relocating crocodiles when necessary. But it also requires the skills of a diplomat, someone who can deal with people who are displeased to learn they live in crocodile habitat and the crocodile may get to stay.
