Christie shut down the DMV in Elizabeth as a revenge move because someone in authority
did not endorse him. I only scanned the article because I was in a rush. Has anyone in the media mentioned this? I don't have dates or any other info but was curious.

1. Here you go
Governor Chris Christie has been accused of exacting still more political revenge after his administration shut down the DMV office in a large New Jersey city three years ago – and Democratic politicians say it was because they opposed his tax policies and worked for his Election Day opponent.
'He shut it down, plain and simple, and of course this was political,' New Jersey state Assemblyman Joe Cryan told MailOnline of the Motor Vehicle Commission office in Elizabeth, the fourth-largest city in New Jersey. 'This was complete retribution. ... There was no other possible explanation for it.' ... And Elizabeth's longtime mayor, Chris Bollwage, got under Christie's skin soon after he took Corzine's job, joining Cryan and Lesniak to publicly oppose what they called a 'flawed' plan to cap the rate of annual property tax increases in New Jersey. The three Democrats now say closing the motor vehicle bureau in Elizabeth was a way for Christie to crush three political adversaries with a single stroke of his pen. more... http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/01/23/1271973/-Mayor-Bollwage-accusses-Gov-Christie-of-shutting-down-4th-largest-DMV-in-NJ-for-political-revenge# |

6. Wow. I will say that long lines at the DMV make people madder than almost anything.
If Christie's vile maneuvering to make people suffer even more gets widely publicized, it'll stir lots of folks up. For a while it seemed like people in other parts of the country wouldn't be so worked up about a bridge to NYC. But everybody has to deal with state DMVs. I hope this story gets wide coverage all over the U.S.

4. I can't believe how much petty revenge they invoked in such a short time.
Did they really think they could do this all the way to the White House?

5. Excellent...and the hits just keep on coming!
All the stinkin' rats will be coming out of the woodwork and the canaries will be singing their little hearts out.
I'm actually stunned at how quickly this is getting bigger and bigger and the far-reaching tentacles have spread. More people that CC rolled over will be emboldened and there will be no stopping it now. It's in avalanche mode...and Christie is fucked. ![]() ![]() |
