Fox News analyst tells Tea Party group he can lead a military coup against Obama

A retired Army general and Fox News analyst told a Tea Party group that he would lead a military coup against the U.S. government, if only reluctantly.
Paul Vallely, a retired major general and senior military analyst for the conservative news channel, told the Surprise, Arizona, Tea Party Patriots during a Dec. 3 speech that other retired military personnel and veterans groups had contacted him about the possibility.
I had a call this afternoon from Idaho, the gentleman said, If I give you 250,000 Marines to go to Washington, will you lead them? Vallely said as the group laughed and gasped. I said, Yes, I will, Ill surround the White House and Ill surround the Capitol building, but its going to take physical presence to do things.
Vallely, who has suggested a variety of extra-constitutional remedies to remove President Barack Obama from office, said extraordinary means were necessary to achieve the legislative results he wanted.

(21,181 posts)I have to go every year with hubby. My mother in law is a liberal but I am always uneasy going around the town. I am a light skinned black woman who could pass but I get looks sometimes from some cretins trying to figure out what I am. I will not go to any bars and stay in or visit my hubby's sisters.
This guy should be arrested for treason. A bunch of old white guys mad there's a black man in the whitehouse. They never made these threats when Clinton was president. And if he 's not arrested he should lose his pension.

(9,462 posts)I was there last year to clear out their house since they both passed, and didn't feel comfortable either. The people I dealt with knew my parents and/or were neighbors so I didn't get the full experience, but then again I didn't want to. They lived in the newer super planned community there. There were a lot of Canadians who have moved in the last couple of years so hopefully the demographic will improve a little bit.
If you just read the info in Wiki on Sheriff Joe you'll be amazed at how bad he really is. Read about the girl who was raped by her uncle and the case wasn't investigated. It was "exceptionally cleared" which is very rare in law enforcement. Had he not done that, his dept. would have realized the DNA came back to the uncle. By the time the DN A report came back, they had closed the case so no one put two and two together. It wasn't until a year or two later when the girl became pregnant that Sheriff Joe's failures were understood. The girl and her family sued and the taxpayers ended up paying a million or two on that one. I could go on.
I hope you enjoy the trip, at least the family and the weather part. If you get pulled over just tell them you were trying to get away from that Mexican looking person you thought was following you. With their hatred, racism and ignorance I'm sure they would let you go and give you the key to the city.

(37,161 posts)I can't provide any links because searches turn up all their other crap and web records from thabck then are spottier anyway, but there was a pretty steady froth about Clinton's imagined treasons. They certaily did a booming business in "militias", and part of "The Clinton Body Count" business is an allegation that Clinton thwarted a "patriotic coup" by assassinating a bunch of generals and admirals.

(40,656 posts)wiki says this is his service in war. Take it as it is: His combat service in South Vietnam included positions as infantry company commander, intelligence officer, operations officer, military advisor and aide-de-camp.
I remember my cousins calling these guys rear echelon mother fuckers.

(37,161 posts)It would be a coup if the active military backed them up, but if it's ex-military radicals, they're more in line with some guys in Munich in, what? 1923?

"Yes I will lead my men to Washington and surround the White House". While the actual US army wipes your sad little ass out with a fleet of drones.

(17,193 posts)The "General" and his hordes would need them -- as soon as the first car backfired, at least a third of them would crap their pants right then and there. It's hard to inspire fear and awe when you're waddling around with a pantload.
Another 60,000 will get lost on the way and surround the Alamo and a troop of Boy Scouts by mistake.
Another 20,000 or so will need to be assigned to guard the aforementioned portapotties.
A couple thousand will be arrested en route for molesting the local fauna.
By the time it starts, it'll be down to the "General" and four or five old guys from Pocatello who don't really know why they're there, but they really dig wearing those snazzy tri-corner hats. They'll wind up shooting each other, but no real harm will occur since they'll forget to put powder in their muskets.
Thus doth his coup end, with the only casualties being two Army soldiers who collapsed from laughing too hard.

Can a general in retirement be court martialled and lose his retirement pay?
Even the Tea Party listeners laughed and gasped.

(38,010 posts)Seems to me that 250,000 armed people arriving in DC might, I don't know, be noticed? Will they come in shifts? How many come at one time? Where will the ones who arrive first stay? How long will they have to stay while they wait for the others? Who's going to fund this?
"Taking America back" might not be so easy/peasy.
