Some who read the report, however, may have jumped to the conclusion that he was completely of northern European extraction, based on his surname. In the end, what the fuck does it matter?

Would you have thought differently about the shooting if, instead of George Zimmerman, he were called Jorge Carpintero? If so, why? The fact remains that if Trayvon Martin had been a white kid and not black, he probably wouldn't have been shot, and that he was seen as suspicious because he was black and walking through this "gated community". The fact that Zimmerman has a Hispanic mother doesn't really change the basically racist motivations.

I just made an incorrect assumption based on the name Zimmerman. And it's funny (weird funny, not ha-ha funny), because the same thing happens to me almost every day. I should know better!
