Thirty-three couples might have had the greatest night ever when they got married at the 2014 Grammy Awards, but actor Kirk Cameron was not impressed.
On Sunday, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed their equal rights anthem "Same Love" alongside Mary Lambert and Madonna while Queen Latifah officiated the marriages of 33 couples, gay and straight. After the show, Cameron took to Facebook to air his grievances over the same-sex ceremonies, calling the display an "assault on the traditional family."
In the post -- which has since been deleted from his Facebook but saved in a screen grab by The Wrap -- Cameron wrote, in part:

(14,549 posts)Cameron is just cashing in on bigotry and hatred like Chik Fil A and many others.
I guess that makes Cameron a professional bigot.

Yes, they're really talking about a banana here. Sometimes a banana is just a banana.

(1,896 posts)I never realized what a great creation it was. Its really a hand accessory. I have to re-think this whole atheist thing. He certainly has me thinking. I thought that a toaster that could toast both bread and bagels was a great invention. This banana has real potential. I think it could be big!
On another note, who is Kirk Cameron anyway? As amusing as this thread is I've got to invoke the correct answer rule that whatever he said, the right response is who cares? Some has been never was two bit actor. Who gives a damn what this idiot has to say? Except for the entertainment factor, why pay attention?

(9,461 posts)to gay marriage I could see the lunacy of that remark. Once again the neo-conservative calling themselves Christian and then making themselves victims. Gay marriage has nothing to do with straight marriage. What do the gay couples do, run over to some straight couple's house and forcefully keep them apart?
I think the real assault on the "traditional" marriage comes from the stress of economic hardship being placed on it from unjust economic policies, having thousands of military members away from home during their child's formative years, ability to get a good education for their children, lack of health care for the parents or children, stress to the relationship from layoffs, lack of paid vacation or sick days, job insecurity and fear of economic devastation. I'm pretty sure if you made a list of things heterosexual couples wanted from our government to strengthen their marriage not letting gay people get married would be on the bottom, if it made the list at all.

Rocket scientist and world-renowned unparalleled genius Kirk Cameron just ask him, he will agree challenged Stephen Hawking in an interview with TMZ regarding the answers to life, the universe, and everything.
Professor Hawking is heralded as the genius of Britain, said Cameron, Yet he believes in the scientific impossibility that nothing created everything and that life sprang from non-life.
While even a five-year-old has some glimmer of a clue how chemicals come together to create amino acids, Cameron seems to have missed that lesson, however Cameron continued, (Hawking) says he knows there is no Heaven. John Lennon wasnt sure. He said to pretend theres no Heaven. Thats easy if you try. Then he said he hoped that someday we would join him.

(15,064 posts)my next door neighbor's yard the day after the Grammys'. I was appalled! I knew it had to be those gays that did it. I immediately turned on the Trinity Broadcasting Network to watch the Paul Crouch memorial and the Jesus guy from the Orlando Holyland who's having a totally hetero relationship with Jan Crouch. Now that Paul's dead that makes it OK. It's a family tradition. Then I listened to the Hank Williams Jr. song "Family Tradition" so my ears would be filled with the holy word of real American family morals. The very next day I listened to Focus on the Family while watching Kirk Cameron peel a banana.
Whew! That was close.

(529 posts)But if you want to hear a story were one of them gays gets assaulted, boy pull up a chair 'cause I've sure got a story for you!
See last night one of my (gay) friends went to our local downtown area to see a band, and my little sister went with him. While they we're there, having fun and drinking drinks, another group of young, mixed gendered people kept harassing them. Being rude, calling him a f@g and so on. They got tired of being threatened, so they left. And unbeknownst to my friend and my sister, the other homophobic group followed them out.
I'm not entirely sure what happened next, but all I know is that they followed my friend, who had fled into a church, and jumped and beat him while my sister ran home to get help. The cops were called, the real assholes ran away, and my friend was caught, hiding in a ransacked church (cause when someone's beating your ass and you're trying to get away, shit gets broken). They didn't just charge him with four felonies (and I really highly doubt he's the one who tore up that church, but this is Texas so guess who's getting blamed) they tazzed him FOUR TIMES! Plus, they didn't even take him to the hospital afterwards, nope they took him straight to the police department, where they took out the taxers' hooks all by themselves.
That, Kirk, is a real assault. One were the victim was still blamed and still charged and still beaten yet again by the cops! So unless you have people beating you because of who you love or what you are, then please SHUT THE FUCK UP!

(21,506 posts)I don't think they are an assault on marriage. I do think it's a fairly transparent and tacky way to get ratings.
I am sure others will disagree. It just seemed like a gimmick to me and I don't think using same sex marriages as a gimmick is appropriate. I wish the couples that participated nothing but happiness however.
