4. Regarding the 99% one - that has always been true. Low income workers were already

subsidized by food stamps and medical assistance etc. back in the 60s. But the business world has never been smart enough to realize it. Instead year after year they elect people who vote against the safety net. So now we want the cash - a living wage.

Despite the Libertarian types the Republicans for the most part are obsessed with the idea that the public can't be trusted to do the right thing. They feel that civilization is fragile and mankind will revert to savagery any minute. Further, they feel SOME PEOPLE are closer to savagery already and their veneer of being "civilized" is thinner.
