For Republicans Who Don't Wish to Be Called Racists or Bigots,

Last edited Fri Jan 31, 2014, 03:20 PM - Edit history (1)

A letter I wish I had the courage to send to all the Repulicans I know:

This to all my Republican acquaintances, relatives, and actual office holders in the GOP. You know how you are fond of spouting cliches well I got one for you. "Actions speak louder than words." So if you are at all interested in proving you aren't racist bigots here are some tips you might want to try. I am not trying to be hurtful but helpful

1.) Quit using your parites resources to try and overturn Voting Rights acts whose sole purpose is only to ensure equal access to the voting booth for members of minority communties.

2.) Stop declaring false emegencies in minority communties only right in the middle of important elections.

3.) Make sure there are the same number of working voting booths in predominately minority districs as there are in predominately rich white suburban neighborhoods.

4.) Quit assuming a man/woman of color is automatically guilty of a crime if they are accused of it.

5.) Speak out against racial profiling in general

6.) Stop trying to wrongly insist the first black President of the U.S. was born in Kenya not the U.S.

7.) Stop blaming the first said black President of the U.S. for the taking the same exact actions the previous White Republican Presidents have taken which you excused as perfectly okay, i.e. Executive Orders etc.

8.) Quit sending around jokes such as the black dog/white dog chestnut which I have received from many of my Republican family members and acquaitances more than once, even after I wrote and told you not only did I not find it funny but extremely offensive and asked you to STOP.

9.) If you don't wish to be called a crac.. don't call anyone a nig...

10.) Support equal pay for equal work no matter what body parts a person has or doesn't have, or what color their skin is

11.) If leaders in your party hold a nationial event or protest in our nation's Capitol and one of the attendees' is proudly waving a Confederate flag, one of said leaders should immediatly find a microphone and say "while we support first ammendment rights and freedom of expression," we do not agree with the sentiment that particular flag stands for. In this country we belive that we pledge allegiance to one flag and one flag only, that of the United States of America. Anything else is an offense to the brave men and women, many of them of color, many buried in Arlington Cemetery who died defending not only that flag but the United States of Amercia, not the Confederate States of America.

If you were to take this advice and truly put it into action than I would refrain from calling you racists, sexist, bigots but until then, that is exactly what you are. THE TRUTH HURTS!

Feel free to add anything I missed DUers.

Quit assuming a man/woman of color is automatically guilty of a crime if they are accused of it.

That just the justice system in America. Highlight that!

who complains to me that they are unfairly being labeled as a racist when they are the ones sending the racist jokes and definding the racist/sexist policies in the GOP platform and agenda.

There are plenty of Democrats who believe these things, with the potential exception of 6,(cannot say for 11, as I live in MA, so the Confederate flag is not a great hit here).

I am wary when I hear that all Republicans are racist or that Democrats are not. This is not the case.

I know racist/sexist Democrats exist as well. It's just in my actual circal of acquaintances in real life verses virtual life this behavior comes almost entirely from the Republicans.

13. Quit believing that all of your taxpayer dollars are being used to support programs that only help Blah people.
14. Recognize that the New Black Panther Party is illegitimate and not taken seriously by the Black community, and that ACORN no longer exists.
15. Quit opposing things just because Obama supports them.
16. Get over the 2012 election.
17. Stop portraying Detroit as a "reservation for Black people".
18. Stop saying "take back my country". This country is not originally yours; the Natives were here first.
19. Stop comparing every policy you don't like to slavery and the Civil Rights era.
20. Recognize that programs such as Affirmative Action are necessary because the playing field among all races and ethnic groups remains uneven.
21. Stop pretending that Blacks overwhelmingly supported Obama just because of his race; Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter also won much of the Black vote when they ran.
