Unless there is hard evidence that Christie knew (which I believe he did), the bridge scandal will eventually blow over. And some time after, the Christie "comeback" story will begin. He will be a media darling and the tales about how he cleaned up his act, turned it around, and his "surging poll numbers" will be the only thing the TV talks about. So how long till Comeback Christie begins?

(115,293 posts)They are already in gear with the comeback story, all you have to do is (a. stay awake late enough / b. wake up early enough) to listen to his tale of woe.

Never. He is done and will never ever pick up the nod for 2016 now.

(5,946 posts)there is hard evidence of that. there were several trailer parks at NJ beaches, the affordable way to have a beach house. Well, the story circulating from a while back is that he was encouraging beach towns to get rid of the trailer parks and build more high end beach houses. There are only a few small ones left that were on high ground. Seriously he has too many real estate connections and there were dirty deals before Sandy but this will be the ticket he can't recover from.

(4,840 posts)Christie is blemished politically permanently by the simple fact that he hired the people who committed the abuse and he should have known what was going on in his administration. Political Incompetence doesn't require criminal activity or a formal conviction to do damage. No one is going to vote for a Christie administration.

This is about so much more than just the bridge. This isn't going to blow over.
