Weather Channel

The Weather Channel is crying that DirecTV dropped their channel. Well, the Weather Channel is now the new MTV. Remember when MTV played music videos and the weather folks had weather, but now both are top heavy in reality shows. I use internet sites to see the weather data.

1. I can't imagine turning on the TV to check the weather

I could check it easier on my phone, the internet, my kindle. I admit to using the Weather Channel Website, though.

I guess same thing with videos - if I'm in the mood to watch a music video I'd go to Youtube.

I guess I think that those channels serve no purpose in their original format; so they have moved on. I'm not interested in what they have become but I wouldn't be interested in what they were either.

2. Well I for one miss the WC!

I like to sleep with the television machine on all night and it was good background to sleep by. Many, many years ago I had a super nerdy co-worker, whom I thought the world of, who would actually record the WC while he was at work.

3. I go to sleep with Golden Girls on Hallmark and wake to I Love Lucy...

I've seen all the GG episodes over the years, so it is truly background white noise...

BTW, never fall asleep to CNN Headline News.... You'll wake up exhausted with a constant rerun of all their inane stories running in your brain on never ending repeat.

5. Try the ID channel for sleeping.

It's the best. Even though it's all about murder and stuff, there is usually just one voice narrating with the same cadence and it's soo hypnotic.

4. NWS and WeatherBug (app)

satisfy all of this weather junky's needs.

You are spot on about WC<=> MTV. Lots of channels going down that path... A&E??? WTF!!!

6. They replaced it with

a channel called WeatherNation that seems to give good weather info.
No big loss.
The thing about the Weather Channel on satellite is it did not give the precise local forecasts that you get when it's on cable.
I doubt they will get anyone to drop DirectTV over this.

Bain Capitol is a part owner so screw them.
