My observation of the Bill Nye/Ken Ham "debate."

First off, science does not work that way.
It may be a good song-and-dance program, but it's not science.

Second, I did watch about 5 minutes of the debate.
And Ken Ham is running with the Gish Gallop full blast.

Third, it's painfully obvious that Ken Ham has no intention of teaching or advocating for science.
He is an absolute FTB.
And he loves to sell to the rubes his bronze-age ignorance.

BTW, Bill Nye is trying.
And doing a decent job using actual science.

4. Nye - So many opportunities missed

Nye is a great guy but if Ken Miller had Ham on stage with that 'kinds' crap Mller would have leveled him. I also would like to hear more from the YEC astronomer - what the hell are you looking at then when you look into a telescope? Are all these galaxies within 6,000 years of one another? It boggles the mind that someone can be so much in denial.

5. Kinds?

So Ham believes that all the species super fast hyper "evolved" from a handful of "kinds" in just 4000 years. So what exactly is his problem with gradual evolution over millions of years?

Nye did address it by saying it would be like seeing a new species of bird everyday. I think a biologist might have explained it better.

7. It doesn't push units out the door.

Ken is a man that has video's and books to sell. He's got units that need to go out the door. He can't make jack telling his costumers gradual evolution over a million years make sense to him. He doesn't give a flying crap about anything but making tons and tons of money selling stupid to the scared. Telling them evolution is a solid theory doesn't do that and that's his problem.

It's a giant con game and he doesn't care if you are conned. He's out there for the ones that desperately want to believe this crap because they somehow thinks not to would negate their bible that they never read.

8. Nye kicked ass!

It was clear that not only did he bring science knowledge to the debate, but he also brought a lot of TV and public-speaking experience, so he didn't fall for the usual debating traps, and really made a strong showing.

Ken Ham, unsurprisingly, is a blithering idiot. His arguments can be summed up as "I believe in a Young Earth because Bible."
