A new poll shows Chris Christie actually gaining support with one group of voters:

Here’s some good news for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie! His support in national polls is way, way up among an important constituency: People who love assholes. Obviously, not a lot of voters self-identify as “people who love assholes,” but pollsters have a special technical term for this small but terribly influential demographic group. They call them “core Republicans.”

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll shows that Gov. Christie is now viewed less favorably by all voters, and even by Republican voters, than he was just a few short months ago, dropping from 41 percent positive feelings among all voters last June to 22 percent positive feelings last month. But every cloud of scandal has a silver lining:

While the poll showed a drop in the positive feelings toward New Jersey Gov. Christie overall and a drop in positive feelings even among Republicans, Mr. Christie’s numbers actually improved among more strongly partisan Core Republicans. Among Core Republicans, only 32% had positive feelings about Mr. Christie in October. In January, that number climbed to 42%.

"In prior polls, “core GOP” voters liked Christie less than total GOP voters — because the hardcore right considered him an Obama-hugging Shariah-creeping RINO.

This is a tiny sample of voters in one poll, so it would be irresponsible to draw many conclusions from this one data point. But, on the other hand, this one data point does confirm various preexisting opinions I have so I’m going to run with it. Because we can tell by observing which Republicans become “core GOP” superstars that the most important factor for gaining the admiration of the grass-roots right is earning the scorn of everyone who isn’t part of the grass-roots right."

"And because these numbers represent a subset of a subset – not just Republicans, but Core Republicans – the samples are necessarily small. January’s Core Republican number, which comes from a sample of about 100 voters, could be an outlier."

Among his core Conservative party voters.

Die hard Cons have the amazing ability to claim to be Jesus lovin Christians - yet worship wealth and disdain the poor. They are against drugs like marijuana and don't have any problem with jailing a young person for 10 years for having a joint on them, as is the possible case in at least one State, but they are perfectly fine with getting smashed on booze and pills. they believe in the Garden of Eden and the commandment to take good care of it, yet they scoff at environmentalists and climate scientists, and have no problem cutting emission standards for big industries. They believe in the Great Peacemaker, but want to attack and kill before trying diplomacy. They hate socialist type universally used and funded medicare systems, but have no problem with their military being funded in that same centralized, government run socialist system.

......I just realized I could be here all night listing these....anyways, they are simply amazing ain't they? How they can see what they want and create their own bubbles. And if any person, reporter, anyone says anything damaging about their Con representative, then their reaction will have nothing to do with what those actions say about the character of that representative, but will be taken as a personal attack on they themselves, because that's the politician they, in their great wisdom, voted for. And its even possibly an attack on God himself as many are beholden to their Republican leaning right wing church leaders.

So they circle the wagons, firing shots at the liberal heathens riding in circles around them.
