Trayvon Martin case to go to grand jury, Fla. state attorney announces

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/20/10775671-trayvon-martin-case-to-go-to-grand-jury-fla-state-attorney-announces

A grand jury will investigate the death of Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old shot to death in a gated community in Florida on Feb. 26, state attorney Norm Wolfinger announced Tuesday.

"I share in the desire of the family and the community to accurately collect and evaluate all the facts surrounding the tragic death of Trayvon Martin," Wolfinger said in a news release. "The public is entitled to no less than a thorough, deliberate, and just review of the facts. We intend to honor that commitment."

The Seminole County Grand Jury will be called to session on Tuesday, April 10, Wolfinger said.

The fact that the state had to be shamed into this makes me want to vomit for my country.

I wondered why this hadn't been picked up by the DA's office earlier, as it was obvious that the PD was committed to obfuscating this murder from the get-go.

who was unarmed--the black man would already have been arrested by the police.

Good:
Grand Jury investigates, and from the evidence indicts or not (and from what's public so far, "not" is gonna be hard to justify)

Bad:
State's Attorney presents awful case to grand jury, deliberately sabotaging it and thus getting the cops off the hook for not arresting the guy.

who deliberately suppressed or tried to mess up evidence in order to protect Zimmerman. They changed statements given by witnesses, deliberately refrained from testing the shooter for drugs or alcohol--while, as I have read, testing the victim for drugs and alcohol!

They did everything they could at the time and later, when talking to the press, to muddy the waters and to deflect attention from evidence against the shooter.

There should be charges brought against the cops, too, and some should lose their jobs over this travesty.

honestly, we will almost certainly see an explosion like what happened after the cops in the Rodney King trial were let off without punishment.
