Preacher Dennis Terry opened a Sanscrotum rally with the following:
Listen to me. If you dont love America, and you dont like the way we do things, Ive got one thing to say, get out!, he said. We dont worship Buddha, we dont worship Mohammed, we dont worship Allah. We worship God. We worship Gods son Jesus Christ.
From the article:
Republican contender Mr Santorum was shown clapping approvingly in the background as the rightwing pastor delivered the ranting fire and brimstone address.
Oops.

(42,290 posts)Even worse than Jeremiah Wright did.
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)We all know that Jeremiah Wright thundered "God damn America" during a sermon, but what's less well-known for some reason is that what Wright was talking about when he said that was America's shameful slave past. He was saying that the institution of slavery was damnable, as indeed I think most people would agree, but as I say, for some reason the context of his peroration has been lost.
It was just a couple of weeks ago that the Toady Show once again ran that clip of Rev. Wright, and once again failed to provide any context. It was curious, then, that when Ann Romney stuck her Manolo Blahniks in her mouth, NBC and all the other popular media outlets rushed to provide the context for her comment that she doesn't consider herself wealthy, and explain very carefully that what she said wasn't quite what she meant. It was very illuminating.

(15,675 posts)Told him to learn some history - that the founding fathers were an eclectic mix of devout Christians, Deists, agnostics, atheists, and other religions. That Washington declared that America is not founded on the Christian religion. That Jefferson wrote his own Bible removing any supernatural aspect of Jesus' life. That the constitution creates a wall of separation between church and state and there's a clause that no religious test could be given in order to hold an elected office. I said that if he were alive back then, he and his opinions would be at odds against the founding fathers so maybe he should get out.
No reply yet.

Those people are getting much too much attention. Why don't we have crazies on our side who can end their rants for always?

(21,925 posts)in the traditional sense, but who did probably believe in a type of God in a way foreign to these Fundies. I'm talking about Adams, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, and Washington in particular. Sanscrotum wouldn't have let them into the club.
