(10,602 posts)I wonder when enough will be enough. All of the parliamentary bean bag will be a loss for women. That is because the GOP is still saying "screw you". There are still legislative initiatives in the works that will continue to be passed through the year. And it will get much worse if the GOP stays in power or gets more power. Unless the GOP is overrun they will continue and double down. Even if they retreat they will be back like the cockroaches they are. You can count on it. The 2010 elections have been a complete disaster for women and the country in general.

(9,933 posts)the GOP is attacking women, children, the elderly, the needy and union workers? Should prolly add immigrants and Muslims and those seeking same sex marriage. If they win any election it will be a sad statement on humanity

What other explanation do you have besides "large numbers of women voters didn't get angry until the GOP turned their rage on us"?

Never fathomed that they'd come after the ladies! I suppose I spent too much time getting mani/pedis with the girls, going to coffee klatches, and shopping to recognize that my solidarity was needed. Well, what can we do to help? Should we bring brownies?

(10,602 posts)The cancer movement has its pink ribbon. One thing women could do or some organization could do it design a logo or pin to wear in public everywhere you go. It has to be catchy and something a person could make at home. A hard hitting lapel pin is one way. It could be posted on the internet and at women's forums. Make it an openly anti Republican arm band or something. Put "Stop the GOP war on women".
One is to make a button with a coat hanger on it and in the center put GOP Womens Health Plan. It could be an arm ban, a button, a lapel pin. There should be a national flag. Symbols are the fastest things to catch on.

(8,994 posts)Why is the GOP's poll standing with women so low now, and why wasn't it so low back during Reagan's time? The time for this level of outrage we're seeing now is LONG overdue.

(8,994 posts)The GOP is suffering a huge drop in support among women voters.
Why didn't they suffer this drop decades ago? And why hasn't it STAYED this low for the last 30 years?
Your answer to that is a LOT of women voters didn't realize the obvious signs back then that WOMEN were on the GOP's hit list.
Please answer the question. It's the HEART of the point of the OP.

(116,464 posts)The Plutocracy has demonized unions, then attacked them. Demonized Medicare and Social Security, and then attacked. Demonized protesters, and attacked them... brutally.
In light of this, you didn't think that, at some point, you would be next?
Solidarity. It's not just a word.
...weird post. It's as if you think women never understood solidarity and there are no women in unions or who care about Medicare and Social Security being attacked. Do you seriously believe there have been no women protesters who were "demonized" and attacked "brutally"?
WTF?
Zalatix
(8,994 posts)losses that should have materialized YEARS ago.
I'm not sure how to say that clearly enough. The polls clearly show a surge of opposition to the GOP from women who should have been opposed to the GOP at LEAST since Ronald Reagan. AT LEAST.

...point is condescending nonsense. There are still people in every demographic category voting for Republicans.
Why are the majority of white men still voting for them?
Stop pretending your snide remarks aimed a women is somehow enlightening.

(15,438 posts)Fact of the matter is, that there were still so many women voting for Republicans since Reagan says a lot about the American woman and her inability to think outside her main man's ideology. I just don't understand how women could vote for the GOP EVER, yet in the last election Sanctimonious got the majority of the women's vote! Are these women idiots or something??
Rex
(65,616 posts)I can see how some people might feel you are 'ordering' them to understand by the way the OP is written.
IOW, it is more the way you wrote the OP imo, then the message you are trying to convey to people. The last thing a woman needs is a man 'barking' at her that she doesn't get something...I know that was not your intention, but I see it now.
Which I think is the point.
...stupid women.

(65,616 posts)is a lot of tension and hurt feelings. I know you did not post an OP to offend women, just the opposite but it seems that is what is going to be percieved here. Too much tension over current events imo.

...after claiming that "I can see you taking it that way," it's interesting that you're attributing the criticism of this post to "hurt feelings."
Why on earth would women who have always voted for Democrats be criticizing this OP out of "hurt feelings"?
The OP is insensitive and patronizing. Women have been fighting this crap for decades, centuries. To suggest that women never understood "solidarity" and there are no women in unions or who care about Medicare and Social Security being attacked is out of line. Women protesters have been "demonized" and attacked "brutally" long before this current episode.
To suggest that women are reponsible for the GOP and their hatred toward women is disgusting!
Zalatix
(8,994 posts)Where did you get that from?
ProSense
(116,464 posts)"Nobody said that women are responsible for the GOP and their hatred of women...Where did you get that from?"
So you didn't suggest that Women didn't understand "solidarity" and blame them for not seeing this "coming since the days of Ronald Reagan"?

Solidarity. It's not just a word.
Edit: The GOP is suffering a big drop in the polls among female voters. How did these women voters NOT see this coming since the days of Ronald Reagan? Am I speaking in error, were the GOP poll numbers this low back during Reagan's time? If this level of opposition to the GOP existed persistently since then well I apologize.

(65,616 posts)How in the world you got to that point...is beyond me. That is not the point of the OP at all. And I can see you taking it that way...so what? I was talking about tension from current events playing a factor in this. You are completely off base on the point of the OP imo.

(8,994 posts)didn't happen in 1980 before Reagan won. The Reagan Revolution should have been aborted; it is the father of the entire mess we're in now.

(27,630 posts)It also has nothing to do with tension over current events. It's just a total and complete miss. The writer seems to be coming from a position of cluelessness. If it were directed to an audience of GOP women, then okay fine, but... why wag a condescending finger at women here at DU? (or women in general)?

(23,278 posts)Even HERE... women are surprisingly missing from the pre-election hoopla.Republican women are figuring out that Republican men could care less about their collective bodies or rights(and many are now voting Democratic behind closed doors)
Our primaries were moved to 05/29... much to the dismay of our Republican Party. We WILL be getting the women out to vote.
