Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe film Her is as important to humanity as 2001: A Space Odyssey
As intellectually informed and philosophical and religious as Isaac Asimov's The Last Question.
It represents a piece to the puzzle of not only the human condition but of the entirety of universal intelligence. It is prophetic in ways I never could have imagined myself.
On top of all that, it is a beautiful, emotional, sincere love story. A tale of human beings struggling to cope with their own world. To cope with transience, and non-being, death and rebirth. Loving and letting love go; letting go of your loved so that they can grow beyond your limits.
I have seen many films but only a few are this important. I cannot describe it in any other way.
See it and share in the experience.

The film is one where you definitely get more out of it depending on experiences and what you bring into it. It's more open to interpretation than most other films.

(8,155 posts)I would not be surprised if it remains a canonical film for tens, hundreds or even thousands of years into the future. It's that important.
The film lends itself to repeated viewings and critical analysis. It's not a film I would watch leisurely. It is long, obscure and extremely dense.
This is a good animated intro analysis: http://www.kubrick2001.com/
Also, as stated, reading AC Clarke's novel will also help. It tends to highlight different parts of the story and focuses more on the first portion of the film when the proto-humans are fighting to survive.
