General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDo you live in a state with a competitive senate or governors race? Do you live in a swing district?
Do you have a competitive state legislative race in your district or a competitive state or county race?
If you do can you give us an idea what you think the race or races look like?
For me I live in the NY 11th congressional district. Michael Grimm is my congressman and has a real race this year. He won the last election with 51% of the vote against a flawed democrat. The District is 2/3 Staten Island and 1/3 southern Brooklyn. I live on the Brooklyn end.
Domenic Recchia a NYC councilman from Brooklyn is running for the seat on the democratic and Working Families line. Due to Grimm's recent troubles with an indicted fundraiser/ex-girlfriend and threatening a reporter, the democrat should be able to give him a good race.

(148,732 posts)Wish me luck in MN CD-6, Michele Bachmann's district. My district borders it, and I'll be working mainly in CD-6, since my own progressive representative (Betty McCollum, MN CD-4) will have no trouble winning. Bachmann won by only 1%, and is not running in 2014.

(34,589 posts)I can vote on. If the Greens run someone strong, that might cause trouble.
Massachusetts 4th District.

(3,431 posts)In my state (Colorado) we have a governor's race as well as a senate race in 2014. I will vote for the DINOs, but only to avoid the TP candidates running against them. Both races are very close at this point.

(78,249 posts)incumbent Mike Honda has some of the highest liberal ratings in all of Congress. However, district-shopper Ro Khanna, a prodigious fundraiser from $ilicon Valley types, has targeted him in the fall. This is made possible by our new open primary system, in which all candidates of all parties run on the June ballot, and the top two face off in November. In a traditional party primary, Khanna would have little chance. But here, it is certain he finishes ahead of the repuke, then draws lots of repuke votes in the fall.

(12,081 posts)republicans control. I sure hope those two democrats get primaried. Governor races in WA are also very close but we don't vote on that again until '16. The democrats better put up some left leaning liberal democrats or I will be looking for other options.

(6,336 posts)I live in a state that COULD have been competitive last year had the state party not sat the governor's race out. Now we have 4 more years of a bully governor. I was redistricted from a good Democratic congressman to one who's primary purpose in Congress is to criminalize abortion. (The only person I can think of that could take him out is not running anytime soon and probably won't give up his day job). My state legislative district is THE most Republican in the state.
However, as a political staffer, I travel to the district/state I am needed in most.
