The one I remember best was 20 inches of snow in 2000....!

This was Raleigh-Durham.

Couldn't get out for days. Lost my mom's poodle in a bottomless drift (but a bigger dog rescued her). Serious bad. Many people in shelters. Snow plows could not cope. People had to be rescued from the interstates by Humvees. Hospitals barely managing.

But that's pretty unusual...
