Does Santorum wonder why Russia awards him an honorary gold medal but his own country does not?
If this were a liberal senator receiving an honorary gold medal from the USSR a generation ago, the right would be going through the roof. Now the right will take their rewards from any Russian oligarch or African dictator who will play along with their homophobia.
