Just watched the last 45 minutes of a doc on Watergate.

H. R. Haldeman. John Erlichman. Sam Ervin. John Dean. Carl Bernstein. Bob Woodward. Barbara Jordan. Chuck Colson. Oh, and a paranoid, power-mad president who at least had the decency to resign. What a trip down memory lane.

1. Having lived though those times, I don't think it was decency.

Nixon would have been impeached and removed from office. Upon removal, he would have faced trial and likely gone to prison. He resigned so he could live the rest of his life outside a jail cell.

And what you say is true. But we've had even worse presidents since who I'm sure would have put the country through all that if they'd had to, never comprehending they'd done anything wrong.

3. The worst thing Jerry Ford ever did was pardon Nixon. It opened the floodgates for any & all

illegal acts committed by the President to be ignored. Besides, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum is just plain boring, LOL. (It's in my city--the wall graphic outlining the Mayaguez Incident is particularly riveting.)
