(1,365 posts)change a church sign from "St. Luke's Presbyterian Church"
to "St. Puke's Lesbyterian Church."
They were very proud of themselves. Typical middle school humor.
The church wisely put a glass window over the sign.
It was a good move since they were next to a middle school bus stop.

(24,897 posts)but the Presbyterian Church is extremely liberal, and would never post a sign like the one above. In fact, almost twenty years ago when we moved to our new neighborhood, my husband and I received a postcard from the local Presbyterian Church inviting us to attend their services. The postcard proudly proclaimed that they were pro-choice, pro-labor, pro-civil rights, pro-gay rights, and their pastor was a woman. I was already a Presbyterian but I remembered being very proud when I saw that.

(3,372 posts)and I remember being offended by their sign messages on more than one occasion, even going so far as to pull into the parking lot and take photos of the sign during a local election (because of political messaging - I was going to report them...and hopefully get their tax-exempt status pulled). Of course I didn't follow through, but this photo reminded me that I should. As a result of verifying that it is the same place, I have now learned that "markw" listed in the e-mail contacts on the church's contact info, is none other than Mark Weaver.

(3,186 posts)I must admit I'm a little slow on the take this morning- I hadn't noticed the S in the guy's hand, so I thought they had put up the entire message- Well until my 2nd sip of coffee.
Any church that would put up such a hateful message deserves to have it's S ripped off. Perfect!!!

(7,888 posts)imho, it's best to deny trolls like palin, limbaugh, beck, and faux news any reaction to their insane, Christian hatred of those who are not like them.
