It has to be awkward. How does Jaime Herrera Beutler go back to hers?

(2,636 posts)Burr is my Senator. I didn't vote for him, nor will I . I did email him daily, along with Tillis. Is he going to convict, or be complicit?
I will thank him for his courage and his fealty to the Constitution and make some noise about "leadership."
Should the magnificent seven leave the GOP, I will applaud them and welcome them to the Democratic Party.
I see, however, a split with the old GOP, and we'll have a Conservative party and a fascist party. We'll need to create coalitions with the "moderate" republicans who aren't fascist white supremacists.

Won't run for re-election in 2024. Despite those boyish good looks, he'll be 76 in '24. So, really has nothing to lose.
Richard Burr
Not running in '22. Retiring. A "convict" vote and his house gets tp'd a few less times over the next few years.
Bill Cassidy
Just elected in 2020. Hoping in 2026 the GOP Primary voters will have forgotten Trump
Susan Collins
Susan's just being Susan... occasionally making the correct move to avoid alienating more Mainers.
Lisa Murkowski
She's up for re-election in 2022. She will be primaried and might lose. But she's been there/done that before... she can run/win as an (I) Look for Alaska legislature to pass a "Sore Loser Law" disallowing losing Primary candidates to run in a General.
Ben Sasse
Ben misses the days of the moderate Republican and he's bitter that Trump won in 2016. Won election in 2020, hoping all will be forgotten in 2026.
Pat Toomey
Again, retiring in a purple leaning blue state. A convict vote makes the neighbors a little more neighborly.
The real thing to note, not a single "vulnerable" Senator risked his political future on a Guilty vote.
