Something to drink a nice cup of coffee out of while pondering foreign policy.

(8,217 posts)Please enlighten me.
I've heard the term used, but have been thoroughly confused as to its usage.
It can be good or bad from what I've seen so far. I guess, I'll look it up.
Ok, got it.

(18,402 posts)I never bothered actually looking it up. Just tried to figure out the meaning through context and inferred meaning, but it was confusing for a while.

(19,964 posts)It has been known for years that glazed ceramicware imported from Mexico and China contains shockingly high amounts of lead. Make sure you check your coffee mugs/cups and dinnerware to see where they were manufactured. To be safe, make sure your kitchen ceramics were manufactured in the USA (very little is imported from Europe these days but that's okay, too). Better yet, support a local artist who can make them for you.
I first learned about the dangers of lead in ceramicware years ago, as a collector of old MIJ "Made in Japan" ceramics. They made tons of kitchen ceramics for the export market and it turned out the glazes were virtually toxic with lead and other nasty elements. Unfortunately, that danger is still out there but now primarily from Mexican and Chinese imports.
This has been a public service announcement.
