16. I'd never miss anything if DU owners would let us have a 'follow' system. I've been told

the subject arises regularly but fails because they think it might sandbox newbies. While I certainly want to roll out the welcome mat, this no-follow business actually hobbles users. 21. I fought for the ERA back in the day.....

Old school stuff prior to cell phones and email. We're talking stuffing envelopes, handing out fliers and spending hours on the phone with representatives from State Houses trying to sway their vote.

It was an eye opener of the way they all use the exact same talking points. They modeled themselves after totalitarian regimes like the USSR and everyone goes by what the Central Committee decrees and there is no deviation. They also PANIC when you call them out for the use of talking points and deny it emphatically.

It’s hard to believe, but such arguments are usually offered with a kind of arrogant ‘checkmate’ tone to them, as if sexual assault is merely the inconvenient by-product of Forgetful Girl Brain and not one of the most traumatic violations a person can experience. Worse, these kind of dismissive hypotheticals place victims at the forefront of blame. When we create and perpetuate caveats like this, we confirm to victims of sexual assault something that many are already deeply troubled by. That they could have done something different. That they asked for it. That they didn’t fight hard enough. That they deserved it.
