A tactic they have benefited from since Atwater.

(42,770 posts)EVERY Dem uses - on every TV appearance, in every AD, in every public appearance. Not doing
this has always been our weakness and the Republican's strength (i.e. "Obamacare" = Dirty Word)
If you repeat something enough, it become accepted as fact by the public.
Actually, the Obama team did this brilliantly with Romney. If you read Double Down, they capitalized on a window of time, when Romney didn't have any money to drum in the narrative that he was only for the rich.

What does it say about a political party whose ideas suck so badly and are so far right of the mainstream that they must use electronic vote fraud and vote suppression of minorities and senior citizens in order to win elections?

(8,377 posts)The fact is they are anti everything that doesn't enrich the top 0.1%. But the whole game has been to distract the public with all sorts of demagoguery and wedge issues in order to sustain perceptions that never were true. Their perception problem is that the public is starting to perceive them for what they really are, and that is disastrous to the GOP.
It would be a lot more disastrous, though, if the Dems as a whole were clearly different.

(379 posts)It all comes down to anti-change. The Right and much of the world particularly fundamentalists of all kids cannot tolerate change - and we are having a lot of it simultaneously. We must try to hold their hands through this stressful time (seriously)

(379 posts)This was right wing traditionally, but no longer. Now they don't know how to deal with the inevitable change - climate change, gay relationships, new wall street investments, (even) evolution, etc. etc.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)changing so rapidly, instant news, they just can't cope fast enough.
If you think about people you know who are very very conservative (not necessarily politically), or maybe a better way to describe them is "stuck in their ways" - they can't adapt. If you say...let's jump in the car and see the sunrise....they absolutely freak out.

I really like the concept of repeating these mantras, over and over.

Street placards with "Vote Republican - they are Anti You"
Eventually the "Anti" will be associated with @sshole, as in Republican.

(12,189 posts)Second, good you seen him say it. I can not stomach Candy Crowley, even if she was interviewing God, so I didn't get to see it. Yes, one would think there is no shortage of campaign material, after the last 5 years. If the Democrats don't sweep the elections this fall, they have no one to blame but themselves.
