How would you feel if your employer rolled out this new uniform?

A new miniskirt stewardess uniform for a Japanese airline that 'barely covers' female airline staff has been condemned by a cabin crew union.

Skymark's royal blue outfit was launched last week and the length of the dress has drawn criticism with the Japan Federation of Cabin Attendants saying it is unsuitable for the work performed by cabin attendants, which includes stretching high up and kneeling down.

The uniform was introduced to mark the airline's announcement that it would begin fly 10 Airbus A330-300s for the first time on its Haneda-Fukuoka flights this spring.

Comments posted on the union’s website said attendants would not carry out their duties effectively owing to fears about leering stares or customers shooting pictures up their skirts with a mobile phone.

have to wear high heeled shoes with them back then. I notice none of the women appear to be over 25 years old either. Somehow back to the future comes to mind. If those women have a union they should get them to protest. If not then they should get a union although according to the article they do.

However, what if they want to wear short skirts? We had the opposite problem in the bank I worked in back in the sixties. They had a rule about our skirts being no shorter than our knees, yet most of us wanted to wear mini-skirts or pants and had to fight management about that.

I worked for a Japanese company and the office workers had to wear short skirts and they weren't given set workstations so they'd have to move around the office more. All that and they weren't supposed to show their teeth when they smiled.

It was funny for me trying to remember not to show my teeth too much when smiling at management since I tend to grin rather widely.

If part of my job included forcing 400 people off an airplane in a minute and a half before it blew up, or bending over to pick a tray of "food," not okay.

And how many bobby pins will it take to attach that little blue thing to your head? Will they set off metal detectors?

Women worked too fucking damned hard for decades to move beyond this bullshit. Sorry of you can't handle that.

I have seen similar uniforms on lounge waitress staff in resorts and stuff. Didn't some judge recently say that upskirt pictures were not illegal? I thought I read that somewhere here.

I would have a HUGE issue with the shoes.

As for the dress itself...no worse than what I wore back in the late 1960s to 1980s.

Even without really trying, as my legs were very long (they have mysteriously shortened in the past few years) and no matter what I bought, skirts and dresses were always short.

However, at this stage, 61 years old and overweight, if someone actually made me wear something like that, I figure he would deserve whatever horrible things he would see.

Is definitely not an exaggeration, that's for sure. "Cripple" is the right word.

My feet are absolutely ruined from years of wearing bad shoes (i.e. tight, narrow toe box, high heels)

Many older ladies I know are really sorry now for trying to be "fashionable" in their youth.
