It's possible that she isn't really retiring but considering higher office.

She's a "polarizing figure." The Republicans went with a "risky" guy in Romney, believing the risk was in his chosen faith, but that wasn't it at all. He was simply an unlikeable elitist and faith really was not the deciding factor. IF the Republicans went with a female candidate, she'd have to be MUCH MORE of a sure thing than Jan...at least in their miinds.

The one to watch in that regard is Susana (la Tejana) Martinez, our teabagger governor here in NM. She can recite a speech clearly and since her first contentious weeks in office, she's kept a low enough profile to be passable to most Republicans.

She'd be just the one they'd trot out to try to grab Hispanic votes, which is what got her into office here, I'm disgusted enough to say. There's been a lot of buyer's remorse.

around her finally got around to reading the Arizona Constitution and discovered that she really can't run again for governor after this term.

But that said ... Arizona has slim to no chance of electing a Democratic governor in 2014; but I she were to run again, I would vote for her over the top two republican candidates running for governor, right now. They make her seem ethical, reasoned, reasonable and sane, in comparison.

Hint ... Google: Al Melvin + Nuclear waste.
