Wisconsin Lawmaker Thinks Women Are Better Off Beaten Than Divorced

“Representative Don Pridemore, told TODAY’S TMJ4 he thinks even in abusive relationships, there are other options than divorce. ‘If they can refind those reasons and get back to why they got married in the first place it might help,’ said Representative Don Pridemore.”

And without even a trace of irony, he also claims that the reason women can’t single parent — one of the reasons he supports the bill — is because children will “go astray” since the father is usually the “disciplinarian.”

So to clarify, single parent homes run by mothers cause child abuse, but if there is spousal abuse in a two parent home the wife should stay with her husband, especially since he is needed because he is obviously the disciplinarian.

Let him beat you, let him beat your children, whatever it goes on in a house is just fine as long as you stay married.

Yes, there really is a war on women.

The city wanted to stop responding to domestic violence calls. They claimed it was too expensive. But I think the backlash halted that plan. When it gets on national news, you need to find another way to save money. LOL

Go Jayhawks indeed. Hope they can get past NC tomorrow

It was a stupid fight between them but it was all solved. It had nothing to do with becoming national news it was taken care of by the DA saying he would do it even if it cost money used elsewhere.

It was stupid and dangerous and just what happens when the people affected are the last thing the governing officials consider when they decide to fight over money.

They claim to be Christian, but their thoughts and actions are about as remote from the teachings as to be devoid of all meaning.

...he doesn't end up dying for people's sins and being resurrected as divine if he doesn't get whipped and nailed to the cross.

Seems to me that these particular Christians are simply going back to thinking of women the way the conservative Catholic Church has viewed them for some 2000 years. Meaning they should all be passive martyrs like Jesus rather than take action and/or avoiding being abused or killed. Being abused or killed, enduring and forgiving in a Christlike manner, is the only thing that, to such Christians, transforms a woman from a slut to a saint. So, you see, they're doing women a favor by making them stick out these marriages. At least, that always seemed to be the "logic" of this position in past times. A woman who suffered and died at the husband's hand was admired and viewed as saint-like, while the woman who left the bad husband, including those who took their child with them to protect that child, was viewed as sinful.

All-in-all, I just wish such Christians come out and admit that they get a sexual thrill from BDSM relationships with the man as the sadist/master and the woman as the masochist/slave. If they 'fessed up to this, and kept it out of the general political arena limiting it only to consenting Christian adults, they and the rest of us would be far happier.

Right Wing Christian males, particularly white right wing Christian males, think their wives and children are property to do with what they will.

This isn't some new revelation. This is their fundamental view of society, reinforced by the churches they attend.

I though all this right-wing shit was over when McCarthy drank himself to death, but lately Wisconsin is looking like the Alabama of the North.
