Rep. Marcia Fudge: Paul Ryan Should Be "ASHAMED" Of Saying Inner-City Men Don't Want To Work

Poor little Munster..... stepped into it good this time.......

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Add Warrensville Heights Democratic Rep. Marcia Fudge to the list of African-American politicians who were outraged by comments that House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan made Wednesday on Bill Bennett's "Morning in America" radio show.During an interview to tout a report on poverty released by his committee, Ryan decried "a tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work." That brought a tailspin of criticism from politicians including Fudge, who decried Ryan's remarks in a Thursday television appearance on MSNBC's PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton.

Fudge told Sharpton the Wisconsin Republican who served as his party's 2012 vice-presidential nominee should be "ashamed" of his remarks and for citing the works of political scientist Charles Murray, whom she called "a known racist," to back his views. Groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center say Murray uses "racist pseudoscience and misleading statistics to argue that social inequality is caused by the genetic inferiority."

"His actions speak louder than his words," Fudge said of Ryan. "He has done everything he can to derail every single program that would help the poor, that would help children, that would help the elderly. He will say that it is a dependency."

Fudge went onto criticize Ryan for denigrating people who only want "to find the American Dream" and said he "has no intention of letting them get it" because he only cares about "people who had trust funds like he did when he grew up, or the people who give money to his campaigns. He is not the least bit concerned about the poor people in this country."

"If Paul Ryan wants to talk about the soul of America, I ask him to look into his own soul," she continued. "Because if he is saying we have no soul, he certainly has a hole in his. He needs to understand that every single person in this country has a right to expect that their government will take care of them in their greatest need. And he knows and we know these programs have been effective. And if he wants to believe that the only way to cure poverty is to just get rid of all the poor people, then he has another thing coming."

It takes alot to get her going and this surprised even me. Sortof the equivalent of how the otherwise staid Emmanuel Cummings ripped Issa to shreds.

you can tell the difference between sincere anger and a nicely crafted press release.

this was pure and sincere.

Talk about driving it home. That's exactly what they want and it's sick, sick, sick.

Murrary popularized the new "scientific" justification for racism. He is behind the notorious "Bell Curve", basically claiming that blacks on average have lower IQs. The book and its theories have been used by the right to justify the elimination of all social programs claiming they are futile.

I cannot believe there are still black republicans. A person like Ben Carson, who is a bigoted ass hole himself, you think would have some modicum of self respect. Instead they seem completely cool with the idea of their party's previous VP candidate is hanging out with some unrepentant racists like Murray.

I dream of a day when his views are branded as toxic as Paul Ryan's.
