(9,494 posts)folks generally believed in science and there wasn't anything controversial about it. What happened? Did half of America just become stupid and proud of it? How did this happen?

(294 posts)And this is a carefully crafted approach. Keep Americans focused on things rather than knowledge. The fact that so many show today lionize dumb but wealthy and famous people is no accident.

(62,536 posts)Basically the right wing didn't have policy proposals that were useful so to divide the country they set up policies like being against abortion, for creationism being taught in classrooms, against government funding to certain things like stem cell research. These were actual positions that became mainstream.
It didn't help that the media gave them equal footing, but it was all pretty much invented out of thin air. I think US progress was set back by at least 20 years by that. We'd be really far along by now it's a joke.

(7,321 posts)It was a bit rough viewing, with digital blackout moments here and there. it's weird. but caught most of it and really enjoying it except the frequent commercials every couple of minutes. I wonder if PBS will carry it eventually?
One would think it would have been there !! not on a FOX affiliate. bizarre.

(7,321 posts)I have a problem with PBS too. I was happy to see the show, and looking forward to seeing next installment.

Nice to know that it's a quality production, though. When I eventually replace my TV I'll check it out.
