Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHow do you deal with a misbehaving, nuclear armed, super power?
Many here say but the world did not really punish the US over Iraq. Something similar will happen with Russia. Both are armed with nuclear weapons. The limit is truly economic. Unless that is, we want to risk a nuclear exchange.
As to whether we have "moral authority" because of the votes in the Senate, one thing my poli sci instructor said ( he was cynical as can be) now makes sense. Morality is for chumps. In the international stage there is no morality, just national interests.

I am cynical, but I have yet to reach those levels.

(8,747 posts)I used the idolize the CIA when I was younger. They were fighting the dirty, Godless, Athestic, Commies bent on World Domination....., Kill A Commie for Mommy, all that type of crap. I vividly remember the NSA having recruiting ads in the Daily Texas back in the 1975-1977 time frame, and thought they were "cool". Now, I am utterly disgusted with both agencies.

(154,021 posts)and he had his PhD paid by uncle sam, a couple actually.
It was a pleasure taking courses with him, because he understood political systems better than most.
He also liked foreign students best, because we did not have those blinders that had to be removed. I remember the first day of the Comparative Governments Class, this young Republican challenged him on the assignment of Lenin's works and Mao's little red book. After the kid had his say, he offered to take him to the ROTC commander, and get him a free ticket into uncle Sam's army. That was my first exposure to chickenhawks.
Mind you, I was on the left of him, still am, and he was very much to the right of center, yet also to the point of doubting voting even worked.
I have always wondered what happened to him?

We've been wanting NASA's budget to grow, and now it will as it gets back to it's role as cover for space wars.

The money spent at NASA is literally responsible for much of the high tech and economic prosperity we enjoy today.
It was the best investment we ever had by generating $7 in value for every $1 we invested. It's not that expensive either- Just .5% of the federal budget would fully fund all of NASA's projects.
We had a fully functional heavy booster prototype to ensure we could maintain our independence in the space race.
But the administration decided it would be better to scrap the Aries rocket and instead pay the Russians $71 million dollars per astronaut we send to space.
All because the particular county NASA resides in isn't a Dem stronghold.
Or maybe the Wallstreet money wasn't enough and he needed private space money, too (which is cool but shouldn't diminish government investment in space).
I'm just hoping we can get a Dem in who values American industry and exploration in the long term for 2016.
