McCain On New Russia Sanctions: Only Weaker Response Is 'Doing Nothing'

McCain On New Russia Sanctions: Only Weaker Response Is 'Doing Nothing'

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Monday said that the Obama administration's decision to freeze the U.S. assets of seven Russian officials was not enough.

"And this President's response, I don't know how it could have been weaker besides doing nothing," McCain said on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports."

McCain added that President Obama and his staff have been naive about Putin, whose forces have occupied neighboring Crimea.

"I don't know when the President and his advisers will wake up to what Putin is all about. We've got to start with the fundamental reassessment of our relationship with him," he said.

The last sentence of the article, above:

"He should have said we're going to provide military assistance to Ukraine, but to not do that after this country has lost a large part of its territory due to Russian aggression," he said.

Sanctions ARE weak. Doing nothing might actually look less weak.

"We've got to start with the fundamental reassessment of our relationship with him,"

That's weak too.

...are saying this will "piss the Russians off," but also claiming that they're laughing. McCain is full of shit.

The sanctions are a good start.

"He learned that Obama's not gonna do jack shit if Bibi paves over the entire West Bank, so he just kept on keeping on. "

... is not a sign of strength. This is such an uniformed statement. I mean, working toward peace is a series of negotiations, and eventually people see through belligerence. This is why Netanyahu is facing increasing criticism from Israelis. Look at what happened when the U.S. chose to pursue diplomacy with Iran.

These are the ONLY such sanctions. The title of that post is a sly joke.

Now that his free lance diplomacy has contributed to or even caused a genuine diplomatic crisis he's blaming others for the mess.

I wish people like Andrea Mitchell would realize this guy is senile and dangerous and stop giving him air time.
