I apologize. I know I can do better if you give me a chance.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by one_voice (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Yesterday I used the contraction "etc." in an OP. I now understand that this was a really insensitive thing to do, and I want my friends here to know I'll work hard to do better in the future.

I've let you down, and I'm sorry.

Regards,

Chastened Manny

Not that I think you are.

The only individuals complaining are the usual suspects who want to carry around a larger cross than the one they already have.

And it'd be a shame not to oblige them...

Think how you've made Steve Ballmer feel.

But in regards to your OP, you were just getting flak from people who didn't have any useful argument. This is most often evidenced by some vacuous poster typing "Wow...just wow!", as this sentence fragment represents the breadth and depth of their thinking and should be taken to mean "I really hate what you said, but I'm completely unable to justify my feelings".

Wow.

It was an "etc."

Right there on the page, for the world to see.

And it wasn't some sort of tiny-keyboad-on-touchscreen-device error; I actually intended to use that awful word.

I feel such shame right now, such shame.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

How long do we have to put up with this 'look at me' lunacy? These not-funny and bad irony posts border on spamming. Manny has jumped the shark.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Mar 17, 2014, 06:48 PM, and the Jury voted 0-6 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Alerter, why don't you just take advantage of the "ignore" feature???
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Don't put up with it. Put Manny on ignore if you are irritated by his threads and go on about your business. What a waste of juror time.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Put Manny on ignore. Problem solved, no?
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Manny getting on someone's nerves again, apparently.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Ridiculous abuse of the alert function. How long must we put up with frivilous alerts?

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.
